Work with clients to brainstorm the concept and necessary functions of their site, design the visual layout, and program all necessary code to create a finished site. University of Chicago, Senior Site Developer

August, 2003 - May, 2006

Managed web projects, both programmatic and static, for a group of clients within the university. Shepherded projects from conception to completion, serving as project lead, graphic artist, interface designer, and front-end coder. Helped clients shape their vision of their department's online presence. Together with the programmer, storyboarded, developed and tested web applications. As User Experience and New Technologies lead, responsible for advancing the use of standards-based coding and the development of usable and accessible interfaces. Researched the latest technological solutions and promoted their implementation.

Internal accomplishments: introduced knowledge-sharing tools such as intranets, extranets, information repositories and wikis; led the effort to integrate RSS solutions into our products; improved the ways we talk about design and think about addressing our users' needs; spearheaded the effort to purchase, install and implement a content management system (OmniUpdate).

The Academic Approach, Tutor

September 2002 - August, 2003

Math tutor for private SAT and academic tutoring practice. Taught a rigorous curriculum shaped by each student's specific needs. Clarified complex concepts using a variety of techniques.

Niteo Partners/ZEFER, Senior Technical Designer

July 1999 - September 2002

Wrote all the necessary front-end code (HTML, Javascript) as well as much of the back-end code (JSP, ASP, SQL) needed to put sites online. Played an integral part in the design planning stage of websites, assessing technical feasibilities and developing ways to make sites work better and faster. Served as the liaison between the visual designers and the programmers. Quickly adapted to new technologies and software. Acted as the de facto point person for Macintosh technical support. Founded, wrote, designed, published and distributed internal newsletter.

Sachs Group/VNU: Associate Software Engineer

February 1998 - July 1999

Developed web-based software, using ASP, ADO, OLAP, database and Javascript technologies. Created and managed databases. Role evolved to include a specialization in user interface design.

Daily Northwestern, Design editor, Webmaster

September 1994 - March 1998

Supervised a desk of production editors, designed the entire newspaper, created a new design for twelve-page tabloid entertainment section and eight-page news magazine, designed and updated the web site; photographed. Student Society of News Design College Designer of the Year, 2nd place.
